Riki Dozan (Father of Wrestling in Japan)
Putt had a genuine love affair with his work at the Globe-News, writing about sports and chronicling sports history. Putt covered the wrestling matches and posted the results the next day. He spent 62 years writing for the Amarillo Globe news. Putt had a mind like a steel trap. It would be nice to have him here now to learn about the orgin of wrestling in Amarillo in the days of Cal Farley and Dutch Mantel and follow through to Dory Funk Sr. and on to the many West Texas Football players that went on to Pro wrestling careers. Putt was a big booster of Amarillo, West Texas State University, and even during my high school football days, Canyon High School Football. Best put in the words of Garet von Netzer, publisher of the Amarillo Globe News, "Putt, you were one of a kind, you touched our lives uniquely, and you will be missed deeply."
